Indie Game Stuffs!

Post by Zegers on Fri May 24, 2013 11:00 pm

I thought I'd start a thread where we could all recommend Indie games we discover and have fun playing, so hopefully we can get an even more active forum! :: Also, I feel that Indie games are excellent just to get away from the big titles out there today, and experience gaming in a non-conventional way.

I will start off by recommending a game called Don't Starve. It's essentially an open world survival/adventure title. And you goal is to build up a camp/village for yourself, and to just survive as long as possible. If you'd like to see some gameplay and learn more about the game, I would recommend watching this video from the Yogscast.

Since this thread hasn't really had all that much love recently and hasn't actually had a whole lot of Indie games recommended. I'm going to give you guys a preview of a game that I think shows insane promise and that will probably be great fun to play. There is a game out there being developed by a small developer called Radiant Entertainment, and it is called Stonehearth. It basically brings the worlds of an RTS (i.e. Command and Conquer) style game and blends that with a City Builder Simulator (i.e. Sim City) and puts in all into a block world, basically a Minecraft world. This game is very early in development but has been given quite a large amount of funds already, and you yourself can donate to the project, and I will post a link to the Kickstarter page if you are interested..

I'm also going to link a VERY short video that just sort of preview's an early Alpha build and shows you the general jist of the game. The video was created by one of my favorite YouTubers Yogscast Sjin.

I think this game looks like it could be loads and loads of fun, and when it's released I will most certainly look forward to playing it, I hope you all feel the same way, because this game is the essence of why I like Indie games.
